2008 Season - Week 11

Trading Day 2

Loyalty was the word for Trading Day 2 as just 7 owners made changes. Indeed just 16 players were cut, half of them by Chief and Mrs Chief who cut 50% of their teams. As the only members of the Owners Hall of Fame maybe this is great strategic roster manipulation, or maybe both have lost their way these days and it’s just desperation as they try and avoid relegation. I’ll let you decide. The new Owners Hall of Fame member will be announced at our Thanksgiving gathering. Thanks for your votes. We now have no more trading days on the schedule so the only way you will get to change your team is if one of your players is placed on injured reserve. Remember if it’s a franchise player you still have to pay him if you cut him. Chief is so desperate he has cut both of his Franchise players and is running his team on a budget of $8.5m. Instant analysis (always the best) shows Chief’s newbies outscored his cuts by 17 while John Botten improved by 12 points & George by 9. This week’s favourite teams Atlanta and Carolina both saw their BUMS presence increased by 2 players while Oakland lost 2 players. Johnny picked up Willis McGahee so Baltimore once again have BUMS representation and are 1 of 4 NFL teams with just a single player on BUMS rosters. The others are Oakland, San Francisco and surprisingly Jacksonville. Dallas remain the most popular with 8 BUMS players followed by Denver, Indianapolis & San Diego with 7 each. Hall Of Fame Congratulations to Dave G who hit the 50 point mark this week and so visits the Hall of Fame for the 6th time. The last time was week 14 of 2006. As a result he moved into 2nd place in the Premiership, 31 points behind Wayne who he outscored by 29 this week. BUMS on Seats. Due to the Bowden’s brothers visit to the USA and Chief working in Europe on the SuperLeague Formula motor racing there will be no gathering of the BUMS this weekend but we will make up for it next week, starting on Thursday November 27th. We will be at HQ as Cheryl prepares a massive Thanksgiving Day feast that even John Madden would be impressed by. Rumour has it she will be doing Turducken. We will start watching the first game (unbeaten Tennessee @ winless Detroit) at 6.30pm with food scheduled for 7:30pm. The second game is Seattle @ Dallas starting at 9:15pm. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE COMING OVER AS CHERYL HAS GROCERIES TO BUY. On Sunday (30th) we will be back at HQ for Sky’s doubleheader.
